In our short time in your country, Melania and I have been awed by its ancient, modern wonders, and we are deeply moved by the warmth of your welcome.



 


¾îÁ¬¹ã ¹®ÀçÀÎ ´ëÅë·É ³»¿Ü´Â û¿Í´ë¿¡¼­ ÀÖ¾ú´ø ¸ÚÁø ¿¬È¸¿¡¼­ ¿ì¸®¸¦ ±ØÁøÈ÷ ȯ´ëÇß´Ù.


Last night, President and Mrs. Moon showed us incredible hospitality in a beautiful reception at the Blue House.


 


¿ì¸®´Â ±º»çÇù·Â ÁõÁø°ú °øÁ¤¼º ¹× È£ÇýÀÇ ¿øÄ¢ÇÏ¿¡ ¾ç±¹°£ Åë»ó°ü°è¸¦ °³¼±ÇÏ´Â µ¥ ÀÖ¾î »ý»êÀûÀÎ ³íÀǸ¦ °¡Á³´Ù.


We had productive discussions on increasing military cooperation and improving the trade relationship between our nations on the principle of fairness and reciprocity.


 


À̹ø ¹æ¹® ÀÏÁ¤ ³»³» ÇÑ¹Ì ¾ç±¹ÀÇ ¿À·£ ¿ì¾Ö¸¦ ±â³äÇÒ ¼ö ÀÖ¾î ±â»¼°í ¿µ±¤À̾ú´Ù.


Through this entire visit, it has been both our pleasure and our honor to create and celebrate a long friendship between the United States and the Republic of Korea.


 


¿ì¸® ¾ç±¹ÀÇ µ¿¸ÍÀº ÀüÀïÀÇ ½Ã·Ã ¼Ó¿¡¼­ ½ÏÅÕ°í ¿ª»çÀÇ ½ÃÇèÀ» ÅëÇØ °­ÇØÁ³´Ù.


This alliance between our nations was forged in the crucible of war and strengthened by the trials of history.


 


ÀÎõ »ó·úÀÛÀü¿¡¼­ ÆøÂý ÀüÅõ¿¡ À̸£±â±îÁö ÇѹÌÀ庴µéÀº ÇÔ²² ½Î¿ü°í ÇÔ²² »êÈ­ÇßÀ¸¸ç ÇÔ²² ½Â¸®Çß´Ù.


From the Inchon landings to Pork Chop Hill, American and South Korean soldiers have fought together, sacrificed together, and triumphed together.


 


±Ù 67³â Àü 1951³â º½ ¾ç±¹ ±ºÀº ¿À´Ã ¿ì¸®°¡ (³Ê¹«µµ ÀÚ¶û½º·´°Ô) ÇÔ²²ÇÏ°í ÀÖ´Â ¼­¿ïÀ» ŻȯÇß´Ù.


Almost 67 years ago, in the spring of 1951, they recaptured what remained of this city, where we are gathered so proudly today.


 


¿ì¸® ¿¬ÇÕ±ºÀÌ °ø»ê±ºÀ¸·ÎºÎÅÍ ¼öµµ Áö¿ªÀ» ŻȯÇϱâ À§ÇØ Å« »ç»óÀÚ¸¦ ³½ °ÍÀÌ ±×°ÍÀ¸·Î ±×ÇØ µÎ ¹ø°¿´´Ù.


It was the second time in a year that our combined forces took on steep casualties to retake this capital from the Communists.


 


±× ÀÌÈÄ ¼öÁÖ, ¼ö°³¿ù¿¡ °ÉÃÄ ¿ì¸® ¾ç±¹ ±ºÀº ÇèÁØÇÑ »êÀ» ¹¬¹¬È÷ ÀüÁøÇßÀ¸¸ç Ç÷ÀüÀ» Ä¡·¶´Ù.


Over the next weeks and months, the men soldiered through steep mountains and bloody, bloody battles.


 


 


¶§·Î´Â ÈÄÅðÇϸ鼭µµ À̵éÀº ºÏÁøÇß°í ¼±À» Çü¼ºÇß´Ù. ±× ¼±Àº ¿À´Ã³¯ ź¾Ð¹Þ´Â ÀÚµé°ú ÀÚÀ¯·Î¿î ÀÚµéÀ» °¡¸£´Â ¼±ÀÌ µÆ´Ù.

And there, American and South Korean troops have remained together holding that line for nearly seven decades.


 


1953³â Á¤ÀüÇùÁ¤¿¡ ¼­¸íÇßÀ» ´ç½Ã 3¸¸6000¿© ¹Ì±¹ÀÎÀÌ Çѱ¹Àü¿¡¼­ Àü»çÇßÀ¸¸ç 15¸¸¸íÀÌ ºÎ»óÀ» ÀÔ¾ú´Ù. ±²ÀåÈ÷ Å« ºÎ»óÀ» ÀÔ¾ú´Ù. À̵éÀº ¿µ¿õÀÌ¸ç ¿ì¸®´Â ±×µé¿¡°Ô °æÀǸ¦ Ç¥ÇÑ´Ù.


By the time the armistice was signed in 1953, more than 36,000 Americans had died in the Korean War, with more than 100,000 others very badly wounded. They are heroes, and we honor them.


 


¿ì¸®´Â ¶ÇÇÑ Çѱ¹ÀεéÀÌ ÀÚÀ¯¸¦ À§ÇØ Ä¡·¶´ø ¾öû³­ ´ë°¡¿¡ °æÀǸ¦ Ç¥Çϸç À̸¦ ±â¾ïÇÑ´Ù.


We also honor and remember the terrible price the people of your country paid for their freedom.


 


Çѱ¹Àº ¼ö½Ê¸¸ÀÇ ¿ë°¨ÇÑ À庴µé°ú ¼¿ ¼ö ¾øÀÌ ¹«°íÇÑ ½Ã¹ÎµéÀ» ²ûÂïÇÑ ÀüÀïÀ¸·Î ÀÒ¾ú´Ù.


You lost hundreds of thousands of brave soldiers and countless innocent civilians in that gruesome war.



ÀÌ ¾Æ¸§´Ù¿î ¼­¿ïÀÇ ´ëºÎºÐÀº ÃÊÅäÈ­µÆ´Ù.


Much of this great city of Seoul was reduced to rubble.(µ¹¹«´õ±â)


 


Çѱ¹ÀÇ ¸¹Àº Áö¿ª¿¡ ÀüÀïÀÇ »óÈçÀÌ ³²¾ÒÀ¸¸ç ±×¸®°í Çѱ¹ÀÇ °æÁ¦´Â Å« ¿µÇâÀ» ¹Þ¾Ò´Ù.


Large portions of the country were scarred severely, severely hurt by this horrible war. The economy of this nation was demolished.


 


ÇÏÁö¸¸ Àü ¼¼°è°¡ ¾Ë´Ù½ÃÇÇ ±× ÀÌÈÄ µÎ ¼¼´ë¿¡ °ÉÃÄ ±âÀû°úµµ °°Àº ÀÏÀÌ Çѹݵµ ³²ÂÊ¿¡¼­ ÀϾ´Ù.


But as the entire world knows, over the next two generations, something miraculous happened on the southern half of this peninsula.


 


ÇÑ °¡±¸¾¿ ÇÑ µµ½Ã¾¿ Çѱ¹¹ÎµéÀº ÀÌ ³ª¶ó¸¦ ¿À´ÃÀÇ ¸ð½ÀÀ¸·Î ¹Ù²Ù¾î ³õ¾Ò´Ù. Çѱ¹Àº ÀÌÁ¦ Àü ¼¼°èÀûÀ¸·Î ÈǸ¢ÇÑ ±¹°¡·Î ¹ßµ¸¿òÇß´Ù


Family by family, city by city, the people of South Korea built this country into what is today one of the great nations of the world.
